Christmas 2012

Christmas, 2012.  Mike, Tiffany, Maddie, Don and Judy McCoy.  This Christmas was the 14th one without Warren, but I look at this picture and I see him in the faces of his sons and granddaughter.

"Spittin' Images"

Warren Weldon McCoy on the left.  Connor Warren (McCoy) Rice on the right.  What do you see?  Tears are filling my eyes as I look at these pictures.  Beautiful Connor is the "spittin' image" of his great grandfather.

Great Grandson

For the record, this is Connor Warren (McCoy) Rice.  Warren and Judy McCoy's great grandson.  Suzie (his Mom) and Michael Ray (his Dad) married when they were 16 and 18.  They had a son (Michael Warren).  Sadly, the marriage ended when Michael Warren was very young.  He was adopted by Suzie's new husband (David Rice). The years in between are not important.  What is important is that Michael Warren and his wife, Rebbeca are fantastic parents to Connor.  There is a great relationship between Michael Warren and his Dad, Michael Ray.  This child would have been the apple of Warren McCoy's eye, had he lived to see him.  I can see Warren in the face of this beautiful child!

When Connor was born, it was only right that he have the same last name as his step-dad, which is Rice.  In memory of Warren McCoy, Michael and Becca chose Warren as Connor's middle name.

My wish is that when Connor is grown, he will be told about his great grandparents and the McCoy family.  This child is a blessing to our family and I love him so much.

June 12, 2012

Dearest Michael,

I could not find a Father's Day card that expressed how I really feel.

My heart swells with love and pride when I think about the wonderful and loving man that you have become. I remember the day you were born. I looked at you through the glass of the nursery and tears came to my eyes - tears of joy.

I remember when I took my Mother by the hand and pointed you out to her. My exact words were, "Mom, meet your great grandson." There are no words to describe the feelings I had when you were born.

I have watched you grow and now I am blessed to be able to watch you become an incredible Father. I am blessed to now have a great grandson.

Michael, you are loved and your Grandfather would have been so very proud of you, as I am.

Family is so important. Family is the greatest blessing one could have bestowed upon them. You will live on through Connor and his children for generations to come. I know that one day many years from now Connor will be telling his son and his grandson about what an awesome Dad you were and he will share many stories about you and your love for family.

So, on this Father's Day, I honor you and love you.

MeMaw

Your Grandmother and Connor's Great Grandmother

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Today is the 13th anniversary of Warren's death. I have promised myself that I will spend this day remembering the good times and the laughter and all the other great memories he left me with. Most of all, I am so thankful for the family he has left me with. Warren was a good man and a real family man. My regret is that he has never seen Maddie, his granddaughter or Connor Warren, his great grandson. But, he will one day. Thank you Warren for what you gave me. You are loved and missed!

Connor Warren (McCoy) Rice at three weeks old.

This is Connor Warren (McCoy) Rice at three weeks old.

This great grandson of Warren and Judy McCoy is a blessing to the family. If only Warren could have lived to see this boy. There is resemblence here of all the McCoy men - a little of his great grandmother as well.
